Varsity Swimming - TEAM OF THE WEEK, January 25, 2017

The varsity swim team is having a tremendous season! With over 20 girls on the team, this is the largest swim team since 2010! Additionally, this year, we have four eighth graders on the team. So far, the team record is 3-1. They started off very strong beating Riverdale, Hackley and Poly Prep. Last Wednesday, Holy Child took on Convent of the Sacred Heart, NYC and it could not have been a more exciting meet! After several competitive races, both teams were tied headed into the final event, which was the 400 free relay. Ultimately, CSH NYC ended up winning, by a score of 86-84, but it was one of the most exciting meets for the girls. According to head coach Art Tiedemann, “he had never seen the girls cheer as loud as they did. They were so fired up!” The team is now looking forward to their next meet which is today at 4:30 at Horace Mann. Go Gryphons!!



Thirds Basketball - TEAM OF THE WEEK, January 18, 2017

The thirds basketball team is having a great season! With a small number of 10, the girls have had a lot of playing time and opportunities to try different positions. At half-way through the season, the team's record is 5-4. The biggest improvements have been running plays efficiently and moving to open space. The girls are having a fun season and are looking forward to a competitive game against Convent of The Sacred Heart next week. Go Gryphons!


5th/6th Grade Basketball - TEAM OF THE WEEK, January 11, 2017

The 5th and 6th grade basketball team has been having a fun season! Coached by Ashley Sanders '09, the girls have been developing their basketball skills and IQ. Last week, the team played Greenwich Catholic and this week, the team took on Greenwich Country Day School. They are now looking forward to their third game of the season, which is against Eagle Hill on Monday, January 23 at 3:15pm in The Kelly Gymnasium. Hopefully we will see you there cheering on the Gryphons!

At the ceremony, we honored our varsity field hockey coaches, Barb and Cheryl, who have been coaching at Holy Child for the past 13 years. We wish them the very best as they spend more time with family!

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL - TEAM OF THE WEEK, November 7, 2016

It is FAA tournament time for varsity volleyball! As the number three seed headed into the tournament, varsity volleyball beat number six seed, St. Luke's on Monday, with a score of 3-0. Sophomore setter, Caylee Premoli dominated with her serving (21 serves and 10 aces) and had 10 assists. Senior captain and outside hitter, Katie Friedel led the offense with eight kills. Holy Child has now advanced to the semifinals of the FAA tournament, which is today at 4:30pm, and will be against number two seed, Convent of the Sacred Heart. Let's go Gryphons!!


VARSITY FIELD HOCKEY - TEAM OF THE WEEK, October 31, 2016

On Monday, which was also senior day, Holy Child varsity field hockey played beautifully and beat KING, 4-0. It is all coming together for the Gryphons! Over the weekend, Holy Child was named as the number two seed in the NYSAIS tournament! Earlier today, Holy Child beat Masters School (#7 seed) with a score of 5-0. We will now host Hackley School (#3 seed) on Friday, November 4 at 2:30pm on Gryphon Field. Hopefully you can make the game to cheer on the team. Go Gryphons!!!!


7TH/8TH GRADE FIELD HOCKEY - TEAM OF THE WEEK, October 24, 2016

The 7th and 8th grade field hockey team is having a great season! With 15 players on the team, the girls have had a lot of playing time and have been able to try many different positions on the field. After nine games, the team has only two losses. Communication has been superb and the girls are really developing as players and teammates. Go Gryphons!


VARSITY CROSS-COUNTRY - TEAM OF THE WEEK, October 17, 2016

At Monday's Fairchester Athletic Association meet, Holy Child clenched the runner-up spot in the FAA! The varsity cross-country team has been working incredibly hard all season long and it has been paying off. At last Wednesday's FAA meet, Hannah Cleary '18 finished fourth overall. Dannie Bell '19 finished 10th, Emma O'Shea '19 finished 12th, Ruthie O'Driscoll '17 finished 15th and Sophia Flissler '18 finished right behind her at 16th. The team is looking forward to the FAA Championship on October 31st at Waveny Park, and hoping to repeat their win from last year! Go Gryphons!


7TH/8TH GRADE CROSS-COUNTRY - TEAM OF THE WEEK, October 10, 2016

For the first time in our school's history, the Middle School cross-country team hosted a meet on campus! At 73 degrees, last Thursday was the perfect day for a run around Holy Child's beautiful grounds. Seventy Middle School students started their 2.1-mile run on Ross Field and did two campus loops. They ran behind the Design Studio, to the convent, in front of the Field House and then back up on Ross Field. Kate Leach '21 finished first for Holy Child. The team is now looking forward to the Port Chester Invitational, which is being held at SUNY Purchase this Friday, October 14.

VARSITY SOCCER - TEAM OF THE WEEK, October 3, 2016

The varsity soccer team has had a fantastic week! Last Wednesday, Holy Child played Harvey School and won 3-0. Katie Zampolin '17, Sophia Kryza '19 and Gabby Cristiano '20 each scored one goal. Jax Pace '18, Gabby Cristiano '20 and Sophia Kryza '19 all added assists while Giulia DeVita '19 and Grace McGrath '20 each had one save. On Monday, Holy Child beat NYSAIS opponent, Convent of the Sacred Heart NYC, 2-0. Sophia Kryza '19 scored a goal, along with Katie Zampolin '17, and Ryan Delane '18 and Bridget Stanton '17 each had an assist. You can click here to see Katie Zampolin's goal! 5TH/6TH GRADE FIELD HOCKEY - TEAM OF THE WEEK, September 26, 2016

The 5th/6th grade field hockey team hosted the Gryphon Invitational this past Monday! Holy Child, Resurrection and Rippowam Cisqua all played in the jamboree on Gryphon Field. After the game, all of the teams enjoyed lemonade and cookies at the field. The team is now looking forward to their next game, which is on October 4th at 4:15 at Greenwich Country Day School. VARSITY VOLLEY BALL - TEAM OF THE WEEK, September 19, 2016

The varsity volleyball team is off to a fantastic start! Last Wednesday, the team beat FAA league opponent, Hamden Hall with a score of 3-0. Victoria Hanley '18 led the team in serves with 14, with five kills. On Friday, the team beat NYSAIS opponent, Riverdale, with a score of 3-0. Middle hitter, Carly Okon '18 led the team with eight kills. On Monday, the team beat another NYSAIS opponent, Dalton. It was an amazing game! Holy Child won the first and fourth sets, bringing the game to the fifth game, tie breaker. Holy Child prevailed with a score of 15-13 in the final set! Setter, Cece Hylton '18 led the team with 18 serves, six aces, 10 assists, four attacks and one block. Captain, Katie Friedel led the offense with seven kills. The team is now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the FAA. Go Gryphons!




Varsity FIELD HOCKEY- TEAM OF THE WEEK, September 12, 2016

The varsity field hockey team is off to a great start this year! Last week, the team defeated league opponent, St Luke's with a score of 3-0. Agustina Garate-Griot '17, Molly Mackie '18 and Maddie Lyons '17 each scored a goal and Molly Mackie and Martina Garate-Griot '19 both tallied assists. On Monday, the team defeated NYSAIS opponent, Fieldston, with a score of 2-0. Agustina scored a goal, along with Lila Pfohl '17. Charlotte Wertimer '17 has earned two shutouts. The team is now looking forward to its game against league and NYSAIS opponent, Rye Country Day School, which will take place tomorrow. Go Gryphons!!
