School of the Holy Child Offers Plitt Loans
School of the Holy Child was awarded an additional $25,000 this year from the Clarence Manger and Audrey Cordero Plitt Trust. This newest award brings the total funds available to Holy Child through the Trust up to $500,000. The monies provided by the Trust make it possible for Holy Child to continue to provide loans to middle and upper-middle income families at a reasonable fixed interest rate. Loans are awarded based on specific need, and families are given 10 years to repay the loan to the Trust. Loans are granted to families for each year their daughter will be in the Upper School. To date, Holy Child has awarded 20 loans to 15 families.
Joli Moniz, Director of Admission and Financial Aid, sees Holy Child’s relationship with the Plitt Trust as one component of its overall mission to make Catholic, independent education available to families of all income levels. Ms. Moniz, who came to Holy Child last year from Miss Porter’s, a boarding school for girls in Farmington, CT, noted, “Holy Child is sincere in its commitment to families from a wide range of backgrounds, including socioeconomic. In addition to financial aid, low interest loans from the Plitt Trust and payment plans through Key Bank are options Holy Child had the foresight to provide years ago in order to make the School accessible to all families.” Ms. Moniz was responsible for enrolling 83 new students last year; the current enrollment at the School is 334, the largest in the School’s history.
