Maureen Alison McGrath '78 Memorial Library

In 2004, as part of School of the Holy Child's Centennial Celebration, the School opened the renovated Maureen Alison McGrath '78 Memorial Library. The new library was expanded to include two Harkness-style classrooms, a reference library, a Learning Center and seating to accommodate collaborative learning.

In 2005, a $50,000 challenge grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation established an Area Studies Collection for its Library, as well as acquired resources to develop a global studies program for Holy Child that focused on Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. This grant added approximately 4,500 materials to help build the library collection, including monoliths, multimedia resources and global artifacts, many from Holy Child Network schools in Europe and Africa.

The Maureen Alison McGrath Memorial Library is a place for contemplative study, group work, research, learning and reading. The library is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. Students are welcome to visit during morning break, lunch, free periods and after school. Helen Kostelas, Holy Child's Librarian, is there to help students select books, complete research for projects, and compile appropriate bibliographies.
