From the Head of School
Dear Friends,
When I first visited School of the Holy Child in 1999, after 25 years as an educator at a New York coeducational independent school, I was immediately struck by the School's distinct differences: The girls here are witty--their sense of humor is vivid and cultivated; they are physically strong and comfortable with that strength; and these young women are leaders and scholars--naturally, all the class offices are filled by girls and inspiring numbers of students are enrolled in AP Calculus, along with 13 other advanced placement courses.
As educators, we specialize in a young woman's quest for truth. We know that our students thrive in a school designed for their ways of learning. Our academic architecture supports this: There are no study carrels in our Library because the girls prefer to work in groups of two or three, cooperatively not competitively, and our classrooms are open, bright and arranged for dialogue, and not simply as lecture halls. Our Chapel is located in a former solarium, perfect for prayer and reflection with a view of God's grandeur.
Students at Holy Child are known to be generous and friendly, and this finally is the most compelling reason to visit: to see our campus, to meet the students, and spend time in our classrooms, Library and hallways. You will love this School as much as I did in 1999. Please come and be our guest--you will never forget the day.
Sincerely,
Ann F. Sullivan
