School of the Holy Child

College Counseling

The College Counseling team at Holy Child provides an individualized approach to college counseling which results in matriculation to universities ranging from small liberal arts colleges to large universities, from premier art schools and music conservatories to technical institutes and some of the most selective institutions in the nation and abroad.

At Holy Child, every student is known and valued, and her individual, academic and collegiate goals are supported from the time she joins Holy Child as a freshman until she is a graduating senior. Guiding students to find the right college match — a match that will build upon what they have learned at Holy Child and prepare them to navigate and succeed in a diverse, interconnected world — is the primary goal of Holy Child's College Counseling Office.

Our team works with each student, encouraging her to be accountable and pro-actively engaged in the research and exploration process essential to maximizing her collegiate goals and outcomes.

Holy Child’s individualized approach to college counseling involves three major components:

  1. We know our students: Beginning in freshman year, the Director of College Counseling hosts informative seminars with parents. The office works closely with Upper School administrators and faculty to get to know each of our students. During the spring of junior year, students begin a college counseling class, taught by the Director of College Counseling, which continues through the students' senior year. This gives the Director of College Counseling the opportunity to get to know students on a more personal level. Each student and her parents continue to meet with the college counseling office throughout the college application process, as needed.
  2. We know colleges: In addition to working with students, our experienced College Counseling team has relationships with many college admission officers and works to familiarize them with Holy Child’s rigorous and unique curriculum. Additionally, we invite leaders in college admissions to campus in order to provide students and their parents with the most updated information about the college application process and beyond.
  3. Colleges know Holy Child: Each year, over 100 college admission representatives visit Holy Child's campus to meet with students.

Our College Counseling team is dedicated to working extensively with each student and her family to ensure that every Holy Child girl is applying to the colleges that best fit her individual goals and abilities. We work to ensure that each student ultimately chooses a college that will continue to nurture her interests, and empower her to be her best self within the classroom and beyond.
