Creative Perspectives Program

In the winter of 2006, School of the Holy Child's Fine Arts Department launched its "Creative Perspectives Program," which offers Upper School art students an innovative opportunity to learn from contemporary and working artists through interactive workshops and lectures.

The program is designed to give students unique, creative perspectives on art that is shaping the culture in New York City, our local communities and the nation at large.

Participating artists shed light on their inspirations and influences to encourage students to find their own creative muses. Artists can choose to participate in a week-long workshop to help students create, showcase and critique their own work, or they can use the School's art room as a studio to produce original artwork.

Over the past two years, School of the Holy Child has welcomed to the art room Heeseop Yoon, an instillation artist; Donna Blue Powell, a photographer and mixed media artist; Andrea Steele, an architect; Ed Johnetta Miller, a textiles artist; Shauna Burke, a jewelry designer and metal artist; and LeighAnn Rooney, a painter and current Upper School art teacher.
