Capital Campaigns/Major Gifts

Capital Fundraising Initiatives

Independent schools depend on capital fundraising initiatives to provide funds for projects such as renovations, the purchase of additional land or the construction of new facilities. Holy Child's most recent school-wide capital campaign, named the Centennial Campaign, was started in January 2002. The Centennial Campaign raised money for the expansion of the Maureen Alison McGrath '78 Memorial Library, a choral music room, five additional classrooms, a new courtyard, an enhanced entrance, and administrative offices. In 2007 Holy Child opened the newly renovated St. Walburga's Chapel and completed the installation of Gryphon Field, our first turf field.  Future capital initiatives may include an Athletic Field House and conversion of the current gym to a theater.

Capital fundraising makes possible improvements and growth that benefit all members of the school community. At critical points in the growth and development of the school, the Board of Trustees will vote to initiate a Capital Campaign and all members of the community will be asked to support the effort, including Trustees, Parents, Alumnae, Former Parents, Faculty and Friends of the school. Unlike most independent schools, at Holy Child we believe in inclusive fundraising ; therefore we ask all of our constituencies to participate in our capital fundraising at the level they feel most comfortable.
