Religious and Spiritual Life
As a Catholic school, Holy Child observes traditional aspects of the faith, including morning prayer services, the liturgical celebration of Holy Days. There are also religious instruction requirements for every grade. However, Holy Child embraces the diverse and rich faith traditions of all of our students and faculty, and we are dedicated to providing a warm and open forum for exploring spiritual expression.
In addition to regular liturgies and Catholic worship, students and faculty attend retreats at least once a year. Retreats give students and faculty precious time to step away from their busy lives to reflect on their faith, regardless of their faith tradition. Also, in November 2007, School of the Holy Child reopened the renovated St. Walburga's Chapel, which is located in the Tudor Mansion. Overlooking the beautiful Alumnae Garden, the Chapel is a peaceful place for students of all faiths to engage in private prayer or small group liturgies and prayer services.
All students are also required to take a religious studies course each year. Some classes are devoted to the study of the Catholic faith, while others introduce students to the study of world religions, ethics and social justice.
