2018-2019 CALENDAR

Orientation Day: September 4

Orientation Day for NEW Middle School students and their parents, as well as ALL ninth grade students only is September 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Ninth grade students should bring their laptops.

Students should be in fall/spring uniform on this day.

There will be time during the day for locker/cubby set-up for books and supplies.

Club Getaway Information

Sunday, August 26 to Monday, August 27

10:45 a.m. Arrival at Field House

When you arrive, please place your overnight bags on your designated buses.

11:00 a.m. Prayer Service for Students and Parents

Parents are invited to stay for coffee after the prayer service.

The ride to Club Getaway is about an hour. Please make sure your daughter has a big breakfast! Snacks and drinks will be provided for the ride and lunch will be served when we arrive. The camp will provide all other meals. Students do not need to bring any money or valuables.

Club Getaway is a time for students to get to know their classmates and Senior Peer Mentors. They will sleep in cabins in the woods, so make sure to pack bedding and towels. Jen Whitt will have some extra items in case anyone forgets key essentials.

If your daughter has any dietary restrictions or medical issues, please let Jen Whitt know as soon as possible. As a reminder, parent contact information on Veracross must be submitted prior to departure. Please pack any necessary medications.

What to pack:

  • Sleeping bag (or a blanket and sheets) and a pillow
  • Towels and washcloths
  • All toiletries
  • Bug spray
  • Sunblock
  • Cap
  • Hiking boots and/or sneakers – flip-flops are NOT permitted
  • Socks
  • Bathing suit
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Rain jacket or poncho – all activities happen rain or shine
  • Water bottle
  • Any prescription medicine

Parents, please pick-up from the Field House on Monday, August 27 at 4:00 p.m.

School Picture Day is the First Day of School: September 5

Coffee Pond Photography is coming to Holy Child on the first day of school to take individual and class photographs for students in grades 5 through 11. Please use the online order form to purchase your photo package prior to September 5.

Please be in fall/spring uniform on this day.

You may also click here to download a paper form and bring to school on September 5, but an additional fee may apply!


Holy Child will no longer be collecting separate emergency forms, directory information, or image release forms, as well as certain forms for athletes (including the seasonal health history update and the participation addendum). In mid-July all new and returning families will be given access to our new secure portals through Veracross, which will allow families to manage this information online.

Health and Athletic Forms

Physical and Immunization Information for ALL Students

As the school year comes to an end, it's time to schedule physical exams and update NYS immunization requirements for the 2018-2019 school year.

  • IMPORTANT: All NEW students and students in grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 are required to complete this form (provided by the Harrison School District) and provide an updated immunization record. Please remember to bring it with you to your child's physical. It is requested back to the nurse's office by AUGUST 1, but please no later than August 15. Athletes especially should get their forms in as soon as possible to expidite clearance to play.
  • Sixth graders require a Tdap vaccine.
  • Seventh and Twelfth graders require a meningococcal vaccine.

Health Information for Athletes

Fall Pre-Season for Upper School students begins on August 15, 2018.

Your daughter will need these forms that are required by the Harrison Central School District:

A Physical Exam that is less than one year old. So, if your daughter's exam was before August 15, 2017, she will need a new exam from her doctor to participate in Pre-Season.

An Interval Health History Form for Athletics that needs to be printed out, filled out, and signed by parents before August 15, 2018 for Pre-Season participation.

All medications needs to be brought into school before Pre-Season begins. There should be one set for the Nurse's Office and one set for the Athletic's Office. Medications can be left with Ms. Hajjar (Upper School), Ms. Koehler (Middle School) or Ms. Felter (Head's Office).

We would like Middle School athletes to submit all forms by August 15, but please no later than September 4. Students in grades 5 and 6 should write in the appropriate grade on the health history form.

Laptop and iPad Ordering Information

Grades 5-7

All students in grades 5 through 7 are required to have an iPad. Click here for more information about specifications and configuration.

All families that purchased laptops outside of Holy Child need to bring them to Edward Yan to configure to our network and download the appropriate software. Please set up an appointment with him at e.yan@holychildrye or x233.

New 6th grade, 7th grade, and all 5th grade students need to have their iPads configured prior to the start of school. Please drop off the iPad to Michelle Sherry and include the Apple ID, password and passcode on the iPad.

Additionally, if parents set the Approve to Buy option on the student's Apple ID, that temporarily needs to be disabled (through iTunes).

Textbook Information

All students are required to purchase textbooks. These items are made available through an online bookstore that offers textbooks for direct purchase to families. New, used, and electronic books are offered for sale or rent. Students are encouraged to keep textbooks in good condition for potential resale at the end of the school year. Online Bookstore: OPENS AUG 1!

Online book ordering will be available on August 1 through Follett Virtual Campus at The link is also accessible through our parent portal. Please contact Eileen DiIorio at extension 237 or via email if you have any questions. You will have the option to purchase either an eBook or a print copy, unless otherwise noted. When choosing a format, consider your daughter's learning style and preferences. Please note that only eBooks ordered through Follett will interface with our iPads and laptops. You cannot purchase eBooks from another vendor. The homework planner is mandatory for all students. Follett will provide half-price shipping for the first three weeks after the virtual site goes up.

This year, the school has ordered all paperback books for English classes and texts for Religious Studies classes. They will be distributed during the first week of school and families will be billed in September. The School's service ensures that whole classes have the same editions and publishers and that all of the girls have the entire set of books needed for the class.

Textbook Loan Program

Students who attend non-public schools may be eligible for the Book Loan Program. This program allows students to loan textbooks from their individual school districts. Please be aware that each district has different guidelines as to how much they allot for each student. Each district also has strict deadlines for submitted applications; some applications were due as early as June 1. Parents must contact their school district directly for information and requirements.


MTA Mail and Ride Program

New MetroNorth Passengers:

Gryphon Shuttle

Holy Child offers a shuttle every morning and every afternoon from the Rye and White Plains train stations. If your student would like to take advantage of this service, there will be a form available in the online Veracross portal, which will be available to parents in mid-July.

Bus Information

Registration for busing through your district was due April 1. Please contact your school district immediately for further instructions.



Upper School Fall Sports will have optional preseason sessions August 16--18. Tryouts for varsity teams will begin on August 20th. All student-athletes must have an updated Physical Exam and an Athletics Health History Form on file by August 15th.

Fall 2018 Sport Sign Up Form

The Fall 2018 Sport Sign Up form is to be completed by the student-athlete. Please click here to submit your response, or update your prior submission. This form is limited to Holy Child email accounts, so parents, you will not be able to complete on your daughters behalf.

Summer Soccer and Field Hockey Clinics

We have field hockey and soccer clinics scheduled for students going into 4th - 9th grade. All information and registration can be found here.

Gym, Weight Room, and Gryphon Field Open Hours

We will hold Open Gym & Field hours for any student (not necessarily athlete) that would like to utilize your facilities this summer! If you would like to use the facilities outside of these hours, please contact Ms. Conway regarding the schedule.

Instrumental Music Information

Is your daughter playing an instrument this year? Click here.

If your daughter is entering 5th or 6th grade, or plans to participate in an instrumental music class at Holy Child for the first time this year, please review the information below to assist you in the renting or purchasing of an instrument.

You may rent instruments from any area store that is convenient for you. Most stores offer a nominal monthly insurance/repair fee as small repairs are frequently needed.
