Merit Scholarships

All Grade 9 applicants to Holy Child applying for the 2020-2021 school year are eligible to apply for a Merit Scholarship.

Merit Scholarship Deadline - December 6, 2019
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship, please complete the family portion of the admission application and merit scholarship supplements by this date.
All recommendations are due by December 13.

Students may apply for multiple scholarships, but if selected, will only receive one award. Please submit a separate supplement for each scholarship.


Cornelia Connelly Merit Scholarship

$10,000 a year for 4 years of high school

Our most prestigious merit scholarship recognizes academic excellence and candidates
who demonstrate wisdom, confidence, and friendship. Candidates must have an average of
95 or above to be considered for this award, and also submit the following two requirements:

  1. An essay (no more than 500 words) on the following topic:
    Cornelia Connelly exhibited qualities as a leader in education and spirituality
    that still inspire the work of Holy Child schools around the world. Who inspires you to be a leader?
    In what ways have you demonstrated leadership to be a "woman of conscience and action". 
  2. A creative video that is not longer than two minutes and exemplifies your answer to the above topic. iPhone quality videos are welcome!

Annalea Ricci Scholarship

$6,000 a year for 4 years of high school

In honor of a beloved educator who spent 19 years teaching in Holy Child's Science Department, this scholarship is awarded to students with strong backgrounds and continued interest in the STEM field.

To be considered, imagine you are applying for a grant and submit one of the following:

  • Create a video about a STEM project you would like to pursue. Consider photos from various projects, as well as narration and music. Be creative!
  • A written proposal about a STEM project you would like to pursue and why it matters to you.

"Actions, Not Words" Scholarship

$6,000 a year for 4 years of high school

Holy Child Schools work for Christian principles of justice, peace, and compassion in every facet of life and there is an understanding that our actions speak the message of the Gospel. At Holy Child, we strive to serve those in need as a community, and empower students to serve faithfully.

This scholarship is awarded to those who are already modeling virtues of justice, peace and compassion – in her home, her community of faith, her school, and in the world.

To be considered, please submit one of the following:

  • Create a video about how you serve. Consider photos from various projects, as well as narration and music. Be creative!
  • Write a reflection about how you serve and why service matters to you.

Excellence in the Arts Scholarship

$6,000 a year for 4 years of high school

To be considered, please submit an artist statment of 500 words or less, as well as a portfolio of work containing the following items for either the visual or performing arts.

Visual Arts

  • Two of your most successful works in any medium from the past two years.
  • One imaginative 2D artwork in any media complete with an artist statement on a separate sheet explaining your ideas. No smaller than 11x14 inches.

Performing Arts

  • A video of yourself performing two contrasting pieces; one to demonstrate technical ability and one expressive.

Alumnae Legacy Scholarship

$6,000 a year for 4 years of high school

This award is given to the daughter, granddaughter, niece or sister of a current Holy Child student or graduate of the network of Holy Child schools.

Recognizing that joy and balance are the hallmarks of a Holy Child education, in an essay 500 words or less please explain the ways in which you would joyously approach your education at Holy Child, take full advantage of the opportunities available to you and how a Holy Child education will help set you on the path to realizing your personal goals.


Gryphon Commended Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to Grade 9 students based on exceptional performance on the ISEE or TACHS exam, as well as the student's academic record. There is no separate supplement required; all qualified candidates will be considered.
