At Holy Child, we cultivate an environment that inspires innovation, creativity, and forward-thinking, igniting a passion for knowledge and offering limitless opportunities.

Holy Child is committed to lighting up young minds with a passion for learning and inspiring our students to become women of conscience and action. Through your generosity, this commitment can become a reality.

Giving Tuesday is November 28! Your donation to the Annual Fund for Holy Child, of an amount that’s right for you, will help to provide innovative and intellectually challenging programs of study that inspire our students to develop a love of learning and become the next generation of leaders prepared to address the challenges of the world.

We know you have choices when it comes to your philanthropic support, and we are very grateful for each and every gift we receive.

We foster collaboration across the classroom, field, and stage, nurturing relationships with students, teachers, and the greater Holy Child community.

We recognize that exceptional education relies on dedicated teachers. That is why we invest in professional development to further empower our educators in shaping young minds.

We provide students with a canvas for their imagination. Whether through visual arts, music, theater, or dance, we encourage students to explore their passions and ignite their creativity.

Head of School, Colleen Pettus shares her heartfelt vision for igniting inspiration at Holy Child. She reminds us that inspiration can be found in everyday moments and that it's a flame we must nurture together.

The Laurentia Society is named in honor of Mother Mary Laurentia Dalton, SHCJ, ’20, the first member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus to be sent to West Africa in 1930, as well as the first American Superior General after Mother Cornelia Connelly, Holy Child’s founder. By making a planned gift a donor becomes a member of The Laurentia Society. Planned gifts include, but are not limited to, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, gifts of life insurance and retirement plan assets.

    MATCHING GIFTS
Many employers sponsor Matching Gift Programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees and/or their spouses. • Why is participation in Annual Giving important?
Participation in the School’s annual giving efforts demonstrates a sense of unity within the Holy Child community. It also indicates when seeking support from corporations, foundations that those who are most connected to the School are fully committed to its mission and goals.

    How much should I/we give?
Holy Child families are asked to consider making the School and its students one of their top philanthropic priorities. The act of giving is just as important as the gift itself. Gifts of all sizes matter. By giving what you can, you are making a commitment to the mission of Holy Child. You are claiming Holy Child as your home too, and celebrating everything the School does for its students. Because philanthropic support  is such a personal decision, we invite each family to make a gift at a level that is meaningful. For some families, that gift is $25, for others it is $100,000.

When should I/we make a gift?
Though the fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, donors are encouraged to make a gift or pledge before December 31. Making a gift or pledge early in the fiscal year significantly helps the School in the annual budgeting process.

What is the difference between an annual fund gift, capital campaign gift and a planned gift?
A gift to The Annual Fund for Holy Child is for unrestricted use and supports all aspects of the student’ and faculty experiences.. A gift to the Annual Fund is payable within the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

A gift to a capital campaign is pledged over a specified amount of time and supports a capital project like the STREAM Center.

A planned gift is a way to give to help Holy Child while securing the financial needs of your family and loved ones. Planned gifts may include a gift of a trust or annuity, stock, real estate, life insurance, naming Holy Child as a beneficiary in your pension plan or remembering the school in your will.

    Are Gifts Tax Deductible?
While tuition is not tax-deductible, voluntary gifts to Holy Child are. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization under the Federal Internal Revenue Code. All contributions to The School of The Holy Child are deductible pursuant to the prevailing tax laws.

  • What is Annual Giving?

Annual Giving is the total support received in a fiscal year from the Annual Fund for Holy Child, the Benefit (and other fundraisers like the Library Luncheon and Boutique), and Capital and Endowment fundraising efforts. Members of the Holy Child Community are encouraged to support all components of the School’s Annual Giving efforts.

    Annual Fund

    Unrestricted Gifts

Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund support virtually every aspect of school life. Most specifically: merit scholarship and financial aid; academic and extracurricular programs like the Italian Cultural Studies, guest lecturers, and school trips to places like Cape Cod and New York City; campus maintenance and enhancements; and faculty benefits, compensation, and professional development.

    Restricted Gifts

Restricted Annual Fund gifts support specific needs within a fiscal year and can only be designated by the donor. Some examples include: Smartboards, microscopes, tickets to Broadway shows, team uniforms, iPads, Steelcase classroom furniture, and 3-D printers.

Benefit and other fundraising events (like the annual Library Luncheon and Boutique) The annual Benefit is Holy Child’s main fundraising event. Support of the Benefit is integral to supporting unrestricted operating expenses of the School. In recent years, there has been a DONATE NOW component of the event which supports a specific need or initiative that would immediately impact the School and our girls. Support of the Benefit in addition to the Annual Fund is encouraged.

    Capital and Endowment Fundraising Efforts

Above and beyond Holy Child’s need for annual operating support is its need to plan and provide for the School’s long-term financial health. The operating budget does not address the need to establish and grow an endowment and expand and develop the campus. A donor’s support and commitment to Holy Child’s capital campaign and endowment efforts will enable the School to address those needs. Donors are encouraged to make their gift decisions with the intention of maintaining their support of both the Annual Fund and the Benefit.

With Holy Child poised for growth and innovation, the impact that our donors make on the lives of all who walk through our doors is more evident than ever before. We offer our thanks to our donors for their past support of our beloved school. We hope that from this report, you continue to feel pride in and passion for Holy Child, as we remain dedicated to earning your loyal support.
