Merit Scholarships

Merit Scholarships at Holy Child recognize students entering Grade 9 who exemplify strong character, academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and leadership potential. These scholarships are awarded to young women who have demonstrated exceptional promise as scholars and engaged citizens, and who are eager to make meaningful contributions to the Holy Child community.

The Merit Scholarship written essay exam for all scholarship levels is on Saturday, December 5, 2026,
at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Child.

A make-up date is offered on
Tuesday, December 8, at 3:30 p.m.

  • Mayfield Scholarship
    Award: Full tuition for all four years of Upper School

    The Mayfield Scholarship is Holy Child’s most prestigious merit-based award. It is awarded annually to an exceptional incoming 9th-grade student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and a genuine concern for others. The ideal candidate will embody the values of intellectual curiosity, leadership, compassion, and a commitment to serving their community. This is the only full-tuition, four-year scholarship awarded at Holy Child.

    To be considered, applicants must:

    • Receive exceptional scores on the entrance exam (TACHS, ISEE, or SSAT)

    • Present an impressive academic record throughout middle school

    • Complete the written scholarship essay exam at Holy Child on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.*

    • Participate in a finalist interview with a member of the scholarship committee to discuss academic interests, leadership, and commitment to serving others. Qualified candidates will receive an invitation to this step following the written scholarship exam in December, with interviews held in January 2026.

  • Connelly Scholarship
    Award: Half tuition for all four years of Upper School

    The Connelly Scholarship is awarded annually to a select group of top-performing incoming 9th-grade students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, strong entrance exam results, and a record of intellectual curiosity and leadership.

    This half-tuition, four-year award recognizes students whose accomplishments and potential set them apart as leaders in the Holy Child community.

    To be considered, applicants must:

    • Score in the top range on the entrance exam (TACHS, ISEE, or SSAT)

    • Present a strong academic record throughout middle school

    • Complete the written scholarship essay exam at Holy Child on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.*

  • Gryphon Scholarship
    Award: Up to $10,000 for all four years of Upper School

    The Gryphon Scholarship is awarded annually to students who demonstrate a consistent record of academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and promise as future leaders in the Holy Child community.

    To be considered, applicants must:

    • Present a consistent academic record throughout middle school

    • Complete the written scholarship essay exam at Holy Child on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.*
