Job Overview:  The school counselor supports the social, emotional, and personal well-being of upper school students. The Counselor will serve as an integral member of the Student Support Team, collaborating with teachers, advisors, administrators, and families to promote student health, wellness, and success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the School community, its mission, and goals
• Provide social and emotional support to students in grades 9 through 12
• Provide crisis counseling to students and families, as necessary
• Coordinate and consult with outside professionals
• Maintain and update referral list of health professionals and community resources
• Serve on the Student Support Team and consult with team members regarding individual students
• Maintain respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in our overall focus on promoting community and belonging
• Consult with and provide support to faculty, staff, and parents/guardians regarding individual students
• Meet regularly with new students and advisory groups
• Teach or co-teach wellness classes as needed
• Coordinate student and parent programming for Upper School students
• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation on all counseling/support encounters
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines while simultaneously maintaining accurate records
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD/PsyD in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field required
• Minimum of 5 -10 years of counseling experience with adolescents required
  Experience and skill in crisis assessment with children and adolescents

Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000

• Teach 5 middle school classes: Pre-Algebra, Pre-Algebra Accelerated, Algebra, Algebra
  Accelerated
• Work with individual and small groups of students as needed
• Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing
• Participate in regular meetings with the department chair
• Show a commitment to community and belonging
• Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
• Communicate regularly and effectively with the Division Head, advisor, and the student support team about student progress
• Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings
• Attend and participate in academic conferences and required school events

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a STEM-related field or education preferred
• 1-3 years of middle school teaching experience preferred
• Experience teaching math content is required
• Passionate and knowledgeable about middle school education, problem-based teaching and learning, and differentiation
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• A strong collegial spirit and willingness to be an active member of the school community

Salary: Pro-rated based on an annual salary range of $65,000-$85,000
