As a member of the Holy Child Network of Schools, Holy Child is committed to educating students with the Goals & Criteria developed collaboratively by Holy Child educators. They are principles by which we teach students and, in doing so, continue to uphold the educational philosophy of our founder, Cornelia Connelly.

Though a Holy Child education is rooted in Catholicism, our community welcomes and embraces families and faculty of all faiths. It is our hope that every student will feel supported to grow in her own relationship with God. Through coursework on world religions, a dedication to service-learning, and opportunities to participate in the spiritual life of our School, our students explore their own beliefs as well as develop shared values of empathy, compassion, and a commitment to social justice.

  • RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL LIFE

As a Catholic school, the Holy Child community strives to nurture each member's spiritual life, personal relationship with God, and creation. We grow our faith by coming together to worship God in our liturgies and prayer services, where all are welcome to participate and share their gifts, regardless of personal religious tradition. We also "pause" in the midst of our busy academic schedule to regroup and reconnect with God through retreats. Each member of the community has an opportunity to attend a retreat that offers prayer, relationship building, connection with nature, and reflection time. We recognize our faith as a gift that supports us in times of struggle and challenges us to work for justice on behalf of the vulnerable and voiceless in the world.

  • SERVICE-LEARNING

Our faith motivates us to move beyond ourselves to reach out to those in need within and outside our community. Beginning in Middle School, our girls learn how they can make a difference in the world. They learn about the needs of the community around us, research how to respond, and take action in service to others.

Across the curriculum, our faculty and students look for ways to integrate social justice and ethics into their studies. They see that true change comes from altering social policy, and they make their collective voices heard through social action. Service Learning is an integral part of the Global Studies Program, where our girls participate in cultural immersions that include a hands-on service experience.

  • COMMUNITY SERVICE

A fundamental part of Holy Child’s mission is the expectation that each student takes an active role in service to the community outside of campus. At Holy Child, our students respond to poverty, hunger, homelessness, domestic violence, and illness by helping those in need. In the Upper School, students are asked to give 25 hours of service each year to a local non-profit organization. In the 2020-2021 school year, students dedicated 21,709 hours to their communities.
