We know you have many choices when it comes to your philanthropic support, and we are grateful for your consideration.

Support the Annual Fund for Holy Child

  • What Is Annual Giving?

Annual Giving represents the collective philanthropic support Holy Child receives each fiscal year through the Annual Fund, special events such as the Benefit, Library Luncheon, and Boutique, and capital and endowment efforts. All members of the Holy Child community are encouraged to participate in these initiatives, as each plays a vital role in advancing the School’s mission.

The Annual Fund for Holy Child

    • Unrestricted Annual Fund Gifts
Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund provide essential resources that support nearly every aspect of school life. These gifts bridge the gap in tuition that covers on average 10% of the School’s operating budget while also strengthening academic and extracurricular programs; investing in faculty salaries, benefits, and professional development; and providing merit scholarships and financial aid to deserving students.

    • Restricted Annual Fund Gifts
Restricted gifts are designated by the donor for a specific need within the fiscal year. These contributions directly support enhancements such as academic and classroom equipment, student enrichment programs, athletic equipment and wellness initiatives, and tools that advance technology and innovation. Restricted gifts allow donors to make an immediate and meaningful impact in an area they are most committed to supporting on an annual basis.

Fundraising Events: Benefit, Library Luncheon, Boutique and the Gryphon Classic

Holy Child hosts three fundraising events each year, all of which help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the true cost of a Holy Child education. The annual Benefit is our largest fundraising event, and your participation through sponsorships, attendance, auction donations, or the “Donate Now” initiative provides immediate support for our students and faculty. The Library Luncheon and Boutique as well as the Gryphon Classic further strengthen our community while raising funds that enhance the Holy Child experience. Community participation in these events, in addition to the Annual Fund, is encouraged, as each plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the School.

    Capital Campaign and Endowment Fundraising

Beyond annual operating support, Holy Child must also plan for the School’s long-term growth and sustainability. This is achieved through successful capital campaigns for specific strategic needs, as well as through intentional growth of the School’s endowment.

Capital campaigns provide essential funding for major initiatives such as new facilities like the Kelly Center for Inspiration, campus enhancements, and program expansion and are typically fulfilled through multi-year pledges.

Endowment gifts are invested in perpetuity, generating annual income to sustain key priorities such as merit scholarships and financial aid, faculty support and professional development, and innovative programming. Donors are encouraged to maintain their Annual Fund and event participation while also considering support for capital and endowment efforts when possible, as each plays a vital role in advancing Holy Child’s mission for generations to come.

    MATCHING GIFTS

Many employers sponsor Matching Gift Programs that match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees, and/or spouses. To determine if an employer has a matching gift policy, contact the Human Resources Department. Through an employer’s Matching Gift Program, a gift can double or even triple in size, increasing a donor's support of the School.

    PLANNED GIFTS

The Laurentia Society is named in honor of Mother Mary Laurentia Dalton, SHCJ, Class of 1920, the first member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus to be sent to West Africa, as well as the first American Superior General after Mother Cornelia Connelly, Holy Child’s founder. By making a planned gift a donor becomes a member of The Laurentia Society. Planned gifts include, but are not limited to, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, gifts of life insurance, and retirement plan assets.

  • Why is participation in Annual Giving important?
Participation reflects the strength and unity of the Holy Child community. High levels of participation and support signal to corporations and foundations that those closest to the School are deeply committed to its mission—often influencing the School’s ability to secure additional funding. Every gift, at any level, demonstrates confidence in Holy Child’s mission.

    How much should I/we give?
Families are asked to consider making Holy Child one of their top philanthropic priorities. The act of giving is just as meaningful as the amount. Every gift matters and directly impacts our students. Because philanthropy is personal, we invite each family to make a gift that is meaningful to them—whether that is $25 or $100,000. Your participation affirms your belief in our mission and in the transformative experience Holy Child provides.

When should I/we make a gift?
Holy Child’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Donors are encouraged to make a gift or pledge by December 31. Early commitments help the School plan responsibly and maximize the impact of annual giving on our operating budget and programs.

What is the difference between an Annual Fund gift, a capital campaign gift, and a planned gift?

    • Annual Fund Gift: Supports the School’s most pressing needs and provides unrestricted funding for core programs, faculty support, financial aid, and daily operations. Annual Fund gifts are typically fulfilled within the fiscal year (July 1–June 30).

    • Capital Campaign Gift: Supports major initiatives such as facilities and large-scale improvements. These gifts are often pledged over multiple years.

    • Planned Gift: Enables donors to support Holy Child through financial or estate planning, often while meeting personal financial goals. Examples include gifts of stock, real estate, life insurance, charitable trusts or annuities, retirement plan beneficiary designations, or bequests through a will.

    Are gifts tax-deductible?
Yes. While tuition is not tax-deductible, voluntary contributions to Holy Child are. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and all gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
